Ten-storeyed under construction building of Rajshahi University (RU) Shaheed A.H.M Kamruzzaman Hall a part has collapsed. In the locality, five or six people were rescued and taken to Hospital. The incident happened on Tuesday noon.
According to the surviving workers, still tow or three workers are missing. After accident, two unit of fire service started rescue operation.
After visiting the venue, it is seen that two-storeyed beams of north-east corner of under construction Hall have collapsed. Castings have fallen out and fire service unit started rescue.
When asked about this, University’ proctor Professor Asabul Haque said, castings of the beams for the roof of the boys residential Hall was underway. At this time the beams have collapsed unexpectedly. After, the injured workers were quickly rescued and taken to Rajshahi medical college Hospital for treatment.
Professor Dr. Md. Sultan-ul-Islam pro Vice-Chancellor of the University said, this incident is pleasantly unexpected. Those injured have been admitted to hospital. A few assistant Proctors are with them. We will give details after rescue operation.
