A court of Bogura sentenced a verdict of a life-term jail against a husband and fined at Tk. 25 thousand also for killing his wife in Bogura on Wednesday noon. Additional district and session judge Muhammad Jalal Uddin penned the sentence before a huge crowd in the court.

The convicted is identified as Sabuj Mia, 40, son of Hakim Uddin of Jalshuka Dhahapara area under Shajahanpur upazila of Bogura. Government Lawyer (PP) Advocate Binoy Kumar Das quoting the court order said that on August 23, 2012, after physical torture, the convicted strangled his wife Kohinur to death with the help of a pillow.

Later the members of her in-law’s house rushed her to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital (SZMCH) in Bogura where she succumbed to her injure under treatment, added the PP.

On the following day, deceased’s brother Liton Babbu lodged a murder case accusing 5 including Sabuj Mia, his parents and other two and after long 11 years hearing, the court sentenced the verdict.

The court sentenced against husband for life-term jail and fined at Tk. 25 thousand and if unable to pay the fined money, he will have to face jail for 1 year more.
