A team of delegates of SRC, BDRCS visits Project area in Kurigram

A team of delegates of Swiss Red Cross (SRC), Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and  the officials of Razibpurupazila administration visited the project command areas of the upazila under Kurigram district on Wednesday and witnessed the overall activities of Re-inforcing Rural Resilliance project being implemented by Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), district units of Gaibandha and Kurigram.

The members included Mr. BenediktKaelin, Program Coordinator, Bangladesh programs, Swiss Red cross, Switzerland headquarter, deputy country representative Mr. Sanjib Biswas Sanjoy, manager DRM Mr. TuhinSamaddar of SRC, Mohammad Jasim Uddin Kabir, senior manager, Md. Nurul Ami, deputy director of BDRCS  , ATM Akter Hossain,  secretary of BDRCS, Kurigram unit its exccutive members and unit level officer. ,

UNO(upazilanirbahi officer) Tanvir Ahmed and other upazila level officials accompanied the team.

Earlier, project manager Amal Kumar pramanik and other staff of the project received the team members at the project command area of the upazila on behalf of the project.

During the field visits, they went to the nutrition houses, witnessed homesteads that have been raised with earth to save the houses from seasonal floods, sanitary latrines set up for preventing contamination of the environment and flood tolerant tube wells installed at the initiative of the project for ensuring the continuous supply of drinking water supply even at the time of flood.

The team members also participated in the view sharing meeting with the group people and shared with them about the overall activities of the project.

During the opinion sharing meeting the local people expressed their satisfaction over the welfare activities done by the project. After seeing the project works, the team members are happy and satisfied for the active participation of the local community men with the project.

Later, the team members also enjoyed awareness making jari song rendered by the local artists and witnessed a rural road built by the  project support in cooperation with local lunionparishad.

Mentionable that, the people of the upazila live in hard to reach char and remote areas as a result they cannot enjoy the state-run facilities easily. After being involved with the project, the char people are enjoying various facilities from the project to change their socio-economic condition gradually.
