BCL leader dies from snake bite in Pabna

A leader of a local college unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the ruling Awami League-backed student body, was died after being bitten by a snake at Santhia upazila in Pabna.

The deceased was Rakibul Islam Khan, 22, son of Ahed Ali, a resident of Satiakola village under Kashinathpur union. He was the general secretary of Chhatra League Kashinathpur Shaheed Nurul Islam Degree College unit.

According to locals, Rakib along with his friends was feeding fish in a pond near Ambugara Bill crematorium of the union in the evening of Tuesday. At that time, a poisonous snake bit his leg.

His friends rescued him and took to Kashinathpur Ma General Hospital. But Rakib’s condition deteriorated around 10 pm, he was shifted to Pabna General Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead around 11 pm.

Officer-in-charge of Santhia Police Station Islam confirmed the incident.
