The 48^th death anniversary of founding president of the country and father of the nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed on August 15. The government,political parties and different socio-political and cultural organizations have undertaken elaborate programs to mark the day.

The national flag has been hoisted at half-mast a top of all government, semi government,autonomous organizations,educational institutes,non-government offices marking National Mourning Day.

Floral wreath has been placed in the portrait of Bangobandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Trimohoni areas at 7.00 am led by president of Kurigram district unit of Awami League and chairman of KurigramZilaParishad Alhaj  Md. Jafar Ali (former MP) where Chief Executive Officer(CEO)  of KurigramZilaParishad Dr. Md. Faridul Islam,member and panel chairman Minhajul Islam Aiyub,member of ZilaParishadEkramulHaqueBulbul,Awami League leaders, Assistant Engineer Mizanur Rahman and other staff of ZilaParishad have also present. A doamahfil was also held conducted by principal of KurigramAleaKamilMadrashaMaolana Noor Bakhath. Then floral wreath has also been placed in the portrait of Bangobandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of KurigramZilaParishad office at 7.30 am. Same DoaMahfil was also held here and in ZilaAL Party office at 8.00 am. Black badges have also been wear on the cloth hanged on chest holding the picture of Bangobandhu.

People of all walks of lives including Awami League,Juba league,Chatra League and district level office staffs have gathered in KurigramBijoyStambha near Kurigram stadium carrying banner and festoons to attend there at 9.00 am. Floral wreaths have been paced in the portrait of Bangobandhu step by step and at the end of placing floral wreath. AdoaMahfil was also held which conducted by principal of KurigramAleaKamilMadrashaMaolana Noor Bakhath. Security measures have been tighten there.

A discussion meeting on the National Mourning Day has held in Sheikh Resell Auditorium organized by Kurigram district administration and the concern sub-committee at 10.30 am. Prize giving ceremony was also held there at 11.00am.Essay writing competition, painting, and quiz. Hamdnathetc, competition were also held.

Chairman of KurigramZilaParishadAlhaj Md. Jafar Ali (former MP) was present as the chief guest while Chief Executive Officer (CEO) ofKurigramZilaParishad Dr. Md. Faridul Islam, was presided in the function. Member and panel chairman Minhajul Islam Aiyub, member of ZilaParishadEkramulHaqueBulbul,SheulyBegum,EnamulHaque,Sohel Sarkar Awami League leaders, Assistant Engineer Mizanur Rahman and other staff of ZilaParishad have also present.

Special Doa and Munajat was held for Bangobandhu after Johor prayer in all mosques,temple and other religious institutions was held.

A total of 40 wheel chairs and dinner packets have been distributed formally among physical disabled poor and distressed persons in front of four storied Dakbanglow at 2.00 pm organized and funded by KurigramZilaParishad.

Cinema show about documentary of Bangobandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was shown in Sheikh Rusell auditorium and Kurigram central shahidMinar at 7.00pm.

Same programs have been observed in all the other eight upazila levels in the district.
