Different fish fry species fish have been released and distributed at Sherpur upazila of Bogura district.
Freedom fighter Habibar Rahman, Member of National Parliament of the government party,officially inaugurated this program at the premises of the fish seed production farm at Sherua Battala Bazar in the town on the initiative of the Upazila Fisheries Officer’s office on Monday.
President of Awami League district unit Mojibur Rahman Majnu of Bogura released fish fry in Karatoa river while Nirbahi officer Sanjida Sultana of Sherpur upazila presided over the meeting on the occasion.
Upazila Awami League vice-president Munsi Saiful Bari Dablu, general secretary Sultan Mahmud, assistant director of district fisheries officer Moshiur Rahman, senior upazila fisheries officer Sharmin Akhtar and local dignitaries were present in this programme.
Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Sharmin Akhtar said, “The fish hatchery distribution and release program has been started to increase the production of fish.”
“In continuation of this, 338.99 kg of fish fry were released under the revenue sector in 2023-24 fiscal year, along with water bodies of seven institutions of this upazila.” She added.
