Newly planted T-Aman paddy has been inundated causing the farmers are being frustrated due to onrush of water from the upstream and incessant water from the last four days in Bogura.
With the heavy rain across the region most of the low lying areas have been submerged. Water levels of all the 4 Rivers which are flowing through the district are increasing.
Almost crops lands of low lying areas have already been inundated as the influential have made a barricade in the way of water receding, said farmer Afzal Hossain under Dupchanchia upazila of the district. He also said, a vast tract of newly planted T-Aman farming is submerged.
Farmer Shahadat Hossain at Gunager village said, “ I have planted T-Aman paddy on my three bighas of land which is now inundated by heavy rainfall.” “Some thousands of hectares of planted T-Aman farming have gone under water. If this situation remains for several days the planted T-Aman paddy will be damaged.” He added.
The newly planted T-Aman fields were cracked due to lack of rainfall several days back. Farmers were started to irrigate in their planted lands by shallow machines but those farmers are frustrated due to heavy rainfall.
Agriculture officer of Dupchanchia Sajedul Alom said if rain water go down within 4-5 days then there will be no harm of the planted T-Aman saplings.
Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension Md Matlubor Rahman told this correspondent that a total of 10190 hectares of T-Aman , 9 hector aus and 134 hectares of land of vegetables have been inundated.
