Water level of the major Rivers in Kurigram are increasing due to rainfall and onrush of water from upstream. The Dudkumarand the DharlaRiver water crossed danger level.
Water Development Board official sources said water level of the Dharla River is flowing 20cm above danger mark at Kurigram Bridge point the DudkumarRiver is flowing 39 cm above danger mark at Pateswari point,the Brahmaputra River is increasing and flowing 23 cm below danger mark at Noonkhawa point and the Brahmaputra 24cm below danger mark atChilmari pointat 9.00 am on Saturday.
A rural road at Mureaghat point under Bamondanga union of Nageswariupazila washed away. The Dudkumari River water is entering to Bamobdanga, Berubari, Kaliganj, Ballverkhas and Narayanpur union under Nageswariupazila n the district. Most of the river side houses,char areas and all the low lying areas of these areas are inundated.
Former member of Bamondanga UP Sajimuddin said most of the houses of the union are inundated. Several ponds are inundated causing fishes worth of several crore have been washed away. All the houses of low lying areas have inundated and the rural roads have also been gone under water. Movement from one place to another are being hampered. The farmers are frustrated with their poultry birds and domestic animals. Scarcity of pure drinking water and dry food are prevailing there.
Chairman of Bamondanga UP AshaduzzamanRony admitted the incident and told that the water is flowing over the road and a large portion of the road has been damaged.
Executive Engineer of Kurigramm Water Development Board Abdullah Al Mamun admitted the incident and told that River water is crossing about two feet high on 500 meter road and the road has been damaged. The water is entering into the fields and houses. But no crops in the fields at present, he added.
NageswariUpazilaNirbahi Officer (acting) Ahmed Sadat told this correspondent that many places are inundated and we are distributing 10 kgs of rice per head at Bamondanga along with local law maker Aslam Hossain Saodagor.
All the char areas including Porar char under Jatrapur union in Kurigramsadarupazila are submerged. The house wife of char Bhagabatipur in the same union Nargis said flood water entered into hour bed room and we have taken shelter in another high lands and he did not receive any relief.
Abdur Rahman ghateal 58 of char Kapna under Noonkhawa union said the houses of all the unions are inundated except the bazar. People have to move from one place to another by boat.
Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad SaidulArif said some 65 metric tons of rice has been sub allocated in the affected upazilas. In addition, we have 585 metric tons of rice,Taka 10 lacs and 1700 packets of dry food are deposited. The preparing activities of list of flood victims are going on. After getting the list sub allocation will be given.We have visited some flood affected areas and distributed 800 packets of dry food among the flood victims on Friday, DC added.
