Bhitarband Public Library under Nageswari upazila in Kurigram district is spreading light of Knowledge among people of all walks of lives including students. The library is plying a vital role creating eagerness to acquire knowledge to read books among people from root levels.
The two storied library is situated adjacent Bhitarband union parishad and Shishu Park. Initiated and constructed by own fund of former chairman of Bhitarband union parishad Alhaj Aminul Haque Khandokar Bachchu on 2014 in his three decimal of land.
There are more than three thousand various kinds of books. The students of various schools and colleges of both male and female come to the library to read books. Some of them take away their favorite books to their respective houses to read.
Sources said a competition of poem reciting and quiz is being held in the hall room of first floor of the library on last Friday of every month. Attractive prizes are given among the winners of the students to create eagerness. The students as well as readers of the library take part in books reading, poem reciting, quiz, debating and cultural competitions held in various marked days. Administrative officers of the district, political, social, cultural personalities and journalists are take part to create eagerness among the students. In addition, poem reciting exercise class go on in the library hall room regularly.
The founder of the library donates school books and education equipments to poor students in local educational institutes regularly.
Poem recitation, Online quiz competition and offline quiz competition was formally held here recently where Deputy Director of Kurigram Local Government(DDLG) Minhajul Islam, Nageswari UNO Farjana Jahan,Nageswari upazila chairman Mostafa Jaman,chairman of Bhitarband UP Shafeul Alam Shafi,Zila Parishad member Masuda Daizy, Ekramul Haque Bulbul and local elites were present.
At the end of competition three bicycles were given as prize among the winners. The winners were Mayn Uddin class five of Light House International school at Bhitorband for poem recitation, Aporna Sarkar, Rajarhat for Online quiz competition and Meghla Akhter,a student of class six of Bhitorband Girls High School for Offline quiz competition.
While visiting the library and seen that the environment of the library is colorful. Everything is well decorated. Two staffs who serve everything for the readers. Colorful banner, picture views, signboard, cup prize for entertainment and commode system toilet attract to all as it is situated in remote rural area.
Talking to Aruna Sarkar, a student of Masters previous in Political Science Department in Kurigram Govt. College, Sarnolata, a student of intermediate 2nd year in Bhitorband women’s college and Kumari Bithi Rani a student of class ten in humanities group in Bhitorband Girls High School all of village Bhabanipur,Majhipara under Bhitorband union of Nageswari upazila told that we used to gather in the library regularly to acquire knowledge reading books. We read various kinds of books including life history of great men, travelling, story books, novels, cooking, economics and agriculture.
Entrepreneur and Director of the library and former chairman of Bhitarband union Parishad Alhaj Aminul Islam Bachchu who was selected the best UP chairman in the district two times and travel to Philippines and Malaysia for ten days by government cost told that I initiated to set up a library from my grandfather Kobad Ali Khandoker as he was habituated to read all kinds of book as hobby. Because library is called the house of knowledge.
Aminul Islam Bachchu served in Saudi Arabia for 22 years told that I am trying to youth communities free from narcotics and attention to acquire knowledge by reading books. The members of the library are active to build up a good society taking part in various social development activities causes I established the library.
