Pabna district bidi owners and workers union jointly formed humanchain and cordon programme on Wednesday. The programme was held in front of the district Customs, Excise and VAT office on five-point demand, including the sealing of fake bidi factories.

Other demands are-ban on fake bidi and brand rolls, closure of illegal bidi factories, withdrawal of 10 per cent advance tax on bidi, collection of tax from online license owners and provision of six days work to workers.

Later they submitted a memorandum to the customs officer in this regard.

Bangladesh Bidi Workers Federation president MK Bangali, general secretary Abdur Rahman, joint secretary Harik Hossain, Shamim Islam and others spoke at the programme.
