There are two main types of madrasa education in Bangladesh Qaumi and Alia. At present the number of students in Alia Madasa is decreasing day by day.

However, this small number of students are getting merit signatures in the admission test in almost all the first tier educational institutions of the country. Let’s take a look at the information of the students who got the opportunity from Alia Madrasa in the renowned educational institutions of the country in recent times.

Recently, Madrasa student Sakhwat Zakaria became the first in the ‘B’ unit of the Dhaka University’s 2020-2021 undergraduate academic year admission test.

At the same time, this is the first time that a student of 20 public universities across the country has won the first place in the ‘B’ unit cluster admission test in the academic year 2020-2021 and the first place in the ‘D’ unit of Dhaka University has got the highest marks in science, commerce and humanitiesThat Rafid Safwan is also a madrasa student. This ‘B’ unit is the main one for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the educational institutions are also the top public universities.

As both of them are students of Madrasa background who got such success, there has been a storm of discussion all over the country. But in the meantime, Saad Ibn Ahmad has won the first place in the admission test of Bangladesh Textile University (Butex) for the academic year 2020-2021.

In the same academic year, Hasibur Rahman, who won the first place in the government seven college admission test under Dhaka University, and Md. Being a student of Nazmul Alam and Madrasa has added a new dimension to this discussion.

During the tenure of the present government, huge amount of money has been allocated for the recognition of the charter of Qawmi Madrasa, establishment of Darul Arkam Ibtedai Madrasa, establishment of Islamic Arabic University and construction of buildings of Alia Madrasas. These initiatives of the government are commendable. But sadly, the number of students in this field is declining due to the neglect of Alia Madrasa education in some important areas.

One of the enviable achievements of the present government in the field of education is the nationalization of educational institutions. .More than three hundred secondary schools have been made nationalization. 300 colleges have been made nationalization . 26,193 registered primary schools have been made nationalization , but not a single independent or affiliated ibtedayi madrasa has been made nationalization .

Although more than three hundred secondary schools were made nationalization , no Dakhil Madrasa was made government (except one). Although 300 colleges have been made nationalization , not a single Alim or Fazil or Kamil Madrasa has been made nationalization.

On the other hand, after a long wait, most of the ibtedayi madrasas have gone up due to lack of salary allowance and non-nationalization. As a result, the student crisis in the upper classes of madrasas is increasing at a mathematical rate.
Meanwhile, the government has formulated a comprehensive syllabus for the Madrasa Board. If a science student is in college at the higher secondary level, he has to study  1300 marks; But if a  study in a madrasa, he has to sit for the test number 1700. Number four hundred is a huge burden the madrasa students  have to carry.

If accepted, this huge syllabus has been prepared for them in the interest of Madrasa; So the question is, what part of the madrasa is done for the students? Certainly not more than 2%. .Because, the number of seats in the university is so small that it is not possible to admit more than 2% madrasa students in the university.

So why is this huge syllabus imposed on all the students of the madrasa for 2%?  Even with the current huge syllabus, if the students of the madrasa appear in the university, is there any possibility for the university to welcome them?

Where 2,75,930 students took pary the SSC examination from Madrasa in 2012; In 2014, the number of Alim (HSC) candidates stood at 1,06,556. So, where did the remaining 1 lakh 8 thousand 373 madrasa students go? They must have gone to college.

The question is, why? Because, they are afraid of such a huge  syllabus of madrasa. So he left the madrasa and went to college. Thus when Alim (HSC) is completed and Fazil goes to class (degree), more than half of the students leave. Up to Kamil (Masters) no more basic students can be found in the madrasa.
Even more frightening is the fact that even five years ago, there was no shortage of Ebtedayi madrass students; There is no one to be found even now with various notifications of student admission. Here also the students of Madasa Primary (Ebtedai) from government primary schools are victims of discrimination.
Because, even though the students of government primary schools get stipends, the students of Ebtedai Madrasa Primary (Ebtedai) do not get any stipends. Also students in a secondary school come from a few elementary schools.
However, due to non-registration of independent Ebtedai Madrasa MPO for a long time and insufficient grant of teachers working in all these Madrasas, new independent Ebtedai Madrasa has not been formed and the ongoing Madrasa is on the verge of closing down. (To be Continued)
