The historic Mujibnagar Day is being observed today in Kurigram with various programs at 10.00 am on Sunday (April 17).
The floral wreath was placed in the portrait of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman ,Father of the Nation in front of Kurigram Zila Parishad office led by chairman of Zila Parishad and also president of district unit of Awami League and former MP Alhaj Md. Jafar Ali.
Vice president of Awami League Chashi M.A. Karim,Babu Sanalal Bakshi and also editor of local the daily Kurigram Khabor,Robi Bose, Abu Mohammad sayed Hasan Loban, Mayor of Kurigram municipality Kaziul Islam,Zila Parishad member Ekramul Haque Bulbul, Assistant Professor Mahbuba Begum Lovely, Gillur Rahman Titu, chairman of Bhitarband union council Shafiul Alam Shafi, Anisur Rahman chand, Ashim Kumar Sarkar and chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Zila Parishad Md. Faridul Islam were also present in the function.
At the end of placing floral wreath a Doa Mahfil was also held. Imam of Zila Parishad Jami mosque Maolana Mohammad Afjal Hossain conducted the Munajat.
The floral wreath was placed in the portrait of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Father of the Nation at Trimohoni Square under Sadar upazila and Doa was also held there.
The speakers said Mujibnagar days is a very important day in the history. Through the celebration of the historic Mujibnagar Day, the present generation will be able to know the true history of the Liberation War and contribute to building ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Bangabandhu being inspired by patriotism
On the eve of the historic Mujibnagar Day more than one hundred poor people will be received shari and Lungi free of cost funded by Zila Parishad,Kurigram at 4.00 pm on Sunday in the office premises, sources said.
