Flood Affected People get Flood Shelter Centre from government in Sadullapur

Flood affected people of Sadullapurupazila got Flood Shelter Centre(FSC) from the government yesterday to stay there safely along with their cattle and poultry birds during the floods.

Every year, the people of Bongram union of the upazila face floods. During the floods, the affected people took shelter on the roads and flood control embankments belonging domestic animals and poultry birds and pass their days and nights miserably. Their sorrows know no bound at the time of raining.

Taking this in view, the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took initiative a FSC in the area. Accordingly, the 3-storied FSC was constructed on the ground of Idrakpur High School under Bongram union of the upazila in the district while the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief implemented the construction work of the flood shelter centre under a project involving TK3 crore, 16 lac and 43768, office sources said.

On Sunday afternoon, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the FSC in the city’s Osmani Memorial Auditorium, joining virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban, Dhaka as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion PM Sheikh Hasina called upon the people to be cautious and aware to reduce risks of natural calamities.

Sheikh Hasina said the government has already started to take adequate precautionary measures. “In-sha Allah, we will remain alert and be able to minimize this hazard,” she hoped.

 

“A video titled “Bangabandhu, the Pioneer of Disaster Management” was also screened at the onset of the ceremony.

The Prime Minister also exchanged views connecting with the people and beneficiaries at Bangram union of the upazila in the district. district.

Moderated by Sadullapur UNO Nabinauaze, the webinar was also addressed among others by deputy speaker of the JatiyaSangshad Adv. Fazley Rabbi Miah, local lawmaker UmmeKulsumSmrity, vice president of district awami League FarhadAbdullah HarunBablu, general secretary Abu Bakar Siddique,President of upazilaAwami League Principal Md.ZakariaKhandaker, and general secretary and also upazila chairman Shahria Khan Biplob.

Rangpur divisional commissioner Abdul WahabBhuiyan, deputy inspector general of police, Rangpur Range DebdashBhattacharjwa, deputy commissioner Abdul Matin, superintendent of police Muhammad Towhidul Islam, district relief and rehabilitation officer(DRRO) AKM Idris Ali, district and upazila level government officials, political leaders including the journalists of print and electronic media also attented the function in the function.

Talking to this correspondent, DRRO AKM Idris Ali said At least 400 flood affected people along with their 100 domestic animals would stay at the centre during the flood.
