District police have taken up special initiatives in all places including highways and water routes of the district to keep law and order situation fully normal and peaceful ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr and its post period time.

Under the initiatives, additional police forces and Gram police and the members of community policing would be engaged in duties side by side with establishing police boxes at important places to prevent any kind of criminal activities in the district in Ramadan and even, seven days after the Eid.

This was disclosed by superintendent of police (SP) Muhammad Towhidul Islam while he was talking to the national news agency the BSS over mobile phone today.  about taking special initiative to keep law and order normal ahead Eid in the district

SP Muhammad TowhidulIslam said generally, the criminal groups are well-organized ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival for the Muslims, and geared up their criminal activities in the Ramadan to earn economical profit illegally on the pretext of Eid celebration.

At this, the people particularly the home bound men to celebrate the festival fall the victim to robbery and snatching on the roads and the highways frequently causing they lost their valuable assets and in some of the incidents, they also became sick physically, the SP also said.

In order to check the criminal activities of the muggers, the district police have adopted special and tight security measures for the town dwellers, businessmen and passengers and it would continue till seven days after Eid-ul-Fitr, the SP added.

More than 20 additional check posts would be set up at different important points of the district and 750 police personnel, and Gram police including 200 members of community police would have been kept on duty here for the security of the people, the SP further added.

Pragmatic initiatives have also been taken in traffic management system so that the people do not suffer due to traffic jam in the roads of the district and upazila towns, the SP mentioned.

Police patrolling would also be intensified on the highway stretching from Chapriganj under Gobindaganjupazila to Dhaperhat under Sadullapurupazila in the district to prevent highway robbery and other criminal offenses, the SP said adding that water patrolling had also been strengthened in the river of Brahmaputra ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr for easy movement of the passengers and the businessmen in all routes of the river.

the SP also said plain clothed law enforcers including the DB police have been deployed at shopping centers, bus terminals and railway stations so that none could create anarchy and commit crimes like snatching, mugging and pick pocketing.

In reply to a query,SP Towhidul Islam said they had taken adequate security measures in the district town and upazila headquarters including the highway here to check all sorts of crimes ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr and its post period time.

Leaflets and stickers would be distributed to the people and the rickshaw pullers to check any untoward incidents and road accidents by the district police as part of the special initiatives ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, he added.
