While gambling at a coffee house called Sweet Life at the tip of the administration’s nose in the upazila headquarters, RAB-12 raided on Wednesday night, February 5, arrested five gamblers and recovered cash, cards, mobile phones and other equipment from them.

Gambling with cards was going on in several places including Gopota, Bara Akhira, Kundagram, Salgram, Paikpara, Champapur Math along the Santahar Silo Road in Adamdighi Upazila of Bogra. Last Wednesday, a shop called Sweet Life Coffee House located on the 2nd floor of Haji Complex Market on Thana Road in Adamdighi Sadar was openly gambling with cards. Ruhul Amin, 22, son of Nur Islam of Kusumbi Purbapara in Adamdighi, and Abdul Jalil, son of Abdul Jalil of Sonarpara in Adamdighi, were involved in a gambling operation at the coffee house led by Swabjal Kumar Sarkar, senior assistant superintendent of police.
Hossain, 25, Rony, 20, son of Abdur Rashid of Dumuri village, Rahat Babu, 26, son of Ranju Sardar of Narhatra village of Kahalu upazila and Mominul Haque, 21, son of Amanul Haque of Kaya Bhabanipur (Mandalpara) of Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon district were arrested. At that time, Tk 16,000 in cash, 6 mobile phone sets, 6 SIM cards and 2 sets of cards were recovered from them.
Officer-in-Charge of Adamdighi police station Jalal Uddin confirmed the case and said the arrested persons were sent to court on Thursday afternoon.
