Suffering of low-income people has increased drastically due to severe cold situation is swept in northern districts including Panchagarh.
The temperature in the northern district of Panchagarh has been below 10 degrees for the past two days. A gentle cold current is blowing in between. The temperature was recorded at 9.5 degrees Celsius at 6 am on Wednesday.
Earlier, the temperature was recorded at 9.8 degrees Celsius at 6 am on Tuesday. As the temperature has been recorded below 10 degrees for two days, mild cold current is blowing, said the first class meteorological observatory office of the district.
Meanwhile, it has been seen since this morning that the marginal district has been covered by thick fog. Ice dew is falling like rain. Vehicles were seen driving with their headlights on town and village roads. The movement of people has been reduced due to fog and frosty wind and ice dew.
Although many people do not go out of necessity, low-income people have been found to be taking risks in order to earn a living.
Due to continuous winter, the income of low income people has decreased. Low-income people including van drivers, stone workers, tea workers, day laborers are suffering because they cannot go to work properly.
They say that due to winter, someone in the family is suffering from fever, cold, breathing problems and other diseases. On the other hand, the income is low; on the other hand, the treatment of diseases is in a difficult situation. Besides, domestic animals are also suffering in winter. They have to wear old clothes or chaat bags to protect them.
Meanwhile, fluctuating temperatures have increased winter-related diseases. Patients with these diseases are crowding the district hospitals every day.
Officer-in-charge of Tentulia Meteorological Observatory said that the temperature has dropped to 9 degrees for two days. At this temperature, a gentle cold current is blowing.
