Seven BNP leaders have been recommended to be expelled from the party for not participating in the election campaign of party candidate Alimuddin Harun Mandal in Bogra’s Dhunat municipality. The information was given in a press release signed by Dhunat Municipal BNP convener Haider Ali Mandal and joint convener Sanwar Hossain on Monday evening.

The expelled leaders are Abdus Sattar, Humayun Kabir Juran, Osman Ali, Shahadat Hossain Milu, Jahangir Alam, Praten Chandra and Nizam Uddin, general secretary of the Municipal Workers Party.

According to the press release, the third phase of the Dhunat municipality election was held on January 30. In that election, BNP nominated candidate Alimuddin Harun Mandal (Rice Sheaf) was defeated. In the municipal elections, the party discipline has been broken as these seven leaders voted for another symbol in exchange for money. The expulsion recommendation letter has been sent to the convener and joint convener of the district BNP.

When contacted, the seven expelled leaders said they had not received any such letter or notice and had not been contacted by the municipal BNP.
