Four students of Ishwardi Vocation Institute and another the driver were killed and two others injured as a private car lost control and rammed into a road side tree at Ishwardi in Pabna on Thursday night. The accident took place in front of Pabna Sugar Mill on the Pabna-Ishwardi highway of the upazila at around 9:30 pm on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as four friends and students of Ishwardi Textile Vocational Institute Jihad Hossain,17, Riyadul Islam Shishir,18, Sifat Hossain,19, and Shaon,18, and the private driver Bijay Hossain,19.
Sub-Inspector (Investigation) of Ishwardi Police Station Monirul Islam confirmed the truth of the incident and said that a private car was speeding towards Pabna town from Ishwardi.
After reaching Dashuria area of Ishwardi Upazila, the private car lost controland hit a tree on the side of the highway, leaving three people on the spot and four seriously injured.
All the injured people were rescued and taken to Pabna General Hospital where doctors declared two dead.
Officer-in-charge of Ishwardi police station Rafiqul Islam said that there were seven passengers including the driver in the private car. Five were killed in the accident. Of them four were all friends and students of Ishwardi Textile Vocational Institute. The other two are being sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for first aid at Pabna General Hospital.
All the bodies handed over their families, OC said.
