Five government officials have been made Special Officer in Charge (OSD) for alleged irregularities in the Prime Minister’s Shelter Project. An investigation is underway against the accused. Other officials in the project implementation committee at the upazila level are also not getting exemption.
If there is any evidence of involvement in irregularities, action will be taken against them. It is learned that in the meantime, various irregularities and allegations including low quality work and allotment of houses have been raised regarding the shelter project in 36 upazilas of 22 districts.
In a separate notification on July 4 and 5, the officials were removed from their posts and transferred to the Ministry of Public Administration.
The transferred officers are- Md. Liaquat Ali Sheikh Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj, Barguna Amtali Upazila Executive Officer. Asaduzzaman, Munshiganj Sadar Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sheikh Mezbah-ul-Saberin, Special Officer-in-Charge (Deputy Secretary) Ministry of Public Administration attached to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Shafiqul Islam, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Executive Magistrate (Deputy Director, Capital Development) Transfer order as authority (RAJUK)) Rubayet Hayat Shiplu.
Ahmed Kaikaus said, “When the Prime Minister has taken this project as an act of worship, it seems to be our failure.”
But the officials in charge have committed irregularities in the implementation of the project in different places. That is why many houses have collapsed. Within a few months of construction, the cause of the damage will be investigated. And if that happens, the government will take action against the officials in charge at that time
