Police have arrested five gamblers in Dhunat upazila of BogUra after receiving a call from the National Emergency Service 999 number. They were arrested from Barabila village in Gosaibari union of the upazila around 4am on Sunday.
The arrested are Sultan Mahmud (28), son of Golam Ambia of Barabila village, Abdus Sabur (30), Badal Hossain (25), son of Abdul Latif of Belkuchi village, Raihan Sheikh (32), son of Bazar Ali of Jorkhali village and Rezaul Karim (38) son of Hossain Ali.
The gamblers were sent to Bogura District Jail from Dhunat Police Station through a court on Sunday afternoon.
According to the case sources, a gambling hall has been sitting in a room of Ayub Ali’s house in Barabila village of the upazila for a long time. Every day, players of all ages gamble on three cards. The simple people of the area are losing everything by falling into the clutches of these gamblers. The locals complained to the local administration and did not get any remedy. As a result, a person from the area called the National Emergency Service 999.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhunat Police Station Kripa Sindhu Bala said the gamblers were sent to District Jail from Dhunat Police Station through a court on Sunday afternoon.
