As many as 30 beneficiary women of a project run by GanaUnnayan Kendra (GUK), a Gaibandha base non –government development organization got sewing machines from the organization free of cost on Monday for livelihood.
The machines were distributed under Promoting Resilience Opportunity and Socio-Economic Empowerment Migrants/ Climate Displaced Communities in Bangladesh (PROSPERITY) project funded by AWO international and BMZ, sources said.
In this regard, a function on machine distribution was also held at the head office of the organization located at Nashratpur area under Sadarupazila in the district on Monday afternoon.
UNO Mahmud Al- Hasan attended the function and distributed the machines to the beneficiaries of the project as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion UNO Mahmud Al- Hasan urged the beneficiaries to be more serious and careful in utilizing the machines in a bid to earn economic profit to run the family smoothly and without economic trouble.
Members of the management team of the organization were present on the occasion.
Earlier, all selected beneficiaries were given one month training on sewing at the arrangement of the project so that they could operate the machines successfully, said senior program manager JoyaProsad.
