Three were killed including a child over head-on collision between a loauded Truck and a CNG-run autorickshaw under Sherpur upazila of Bogura district. Three other passengers of the autorickshaw were injured of the accident.
The accident took place on the Dhaka-Bogura highway at a place called Hajipur in the upazila on Thursday (June 15) afternoon.
The deceased in the accident are – Noore Jannat Luba (04), daughter of Habibur Rahman of Gopalpur village of Khanpur union of the upazila, Golam Kabir (40) of Hamchayapur village of Shahbandegi union and an unidentified woman (45). The injured of this incident are Tanzila Akhtar (24), Mozammel Haque (50), Asad Mia (40).
According to police & eyewitness, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw with passengers was going to Bogura from the local bus stand of Sherpur tow. On the way, when reaching the place called Hajipur on the highway, there was a head-on collision with another freight truck going from opposite direction.
The unidentified woman along with a child were killed on the spot. Besides, the CNG driver and other passengers were seriously injured. At one stage, with the help of locals, the fire service personnel quickly rescued the injured and took them to the upazila health complex.But when the condition worsened there, they were immediately shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZRMC&H) Hospital. Later another person named Golam Kabir died while undergoing treatment there.
In-charge of Sherpur Highway Police Camp Abdul Wadud said “The body of the deceased will be handed over to the family after the legal process. “
“It was not possible to arrest anyone including the driver-helper as the killer truck ran away immediately after the accident. However, efforts are underway to identify the truck and arrest the driver-helper. The highway police official said that the matter of filing a case at the police station is under process.” he added.
