The 28th meeting of the Greater Bogra District Cold Storage Owners Association was held at the conference hall of Hotel Mom Inn in Naodapara, Bogra on Saturday.
Owners Association President and Founder Executive Director of TMSS Professor. Central President of Bangladesh Cold Storage Association Md. Mosharraf Hossain addressed the meeting as the chief guest under the chairmanship of Hosne Ara Begum. He said in his speech that potato is a cash crop which can earn foreign exchange by exporting abroad. This requires the overall cooperation of the government.
Cold storage owners need to strengthen their organization to talk to the government. Everyone must work in a united manner by stopping unequal competition. Also speaking were Alhaj Khalilur Rahman, Vice President, Greater Bogra District Cold Storage Owners Association, Alhaj Abdul Gafur, General Secretary, Alhaj Tofazzal Hossain, Abdul Hannan Mithu, General Secretary, Md. Shahidul Islam Shahid, Associate General Secretary. Md. Alamgir Hossain, Publicity Secretary Md. Rafiqul Islam, Office Secretary Sajjad Hasan Badal, Women’s Affairs Secretary Nilufar Mahrukh Hossain, Uttara Cold Storage Proprietor Md. Azizul Haque, Director (Chief Program Sector) of TMSS Md. Zakir Hossain and others.
The program was conducted by Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Senior Vice President, Greater Bogra District Cold Storage Owners Association. Various leaders of Cold Storage Owners Association, proprietors and officials of various cold storage were present. In the forthcoming potato storage season, the price is fixed at Tk 5 per kg. The leaders of the Cold Storage Owners Association urged the farmers and traders to use the full sacks with a capacity of 50 kg as per the government directives.
