Two people were killed and eight others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a microbus at Ishwardi in Pabna on Saturday. Three of the injured are in critical condition.

All the dead and injured were passengers of Makrobus

The incident took place at around 8.30am on Saturday in Mirkamari Purbapara area of Ishwardi Upazila on the Kushtia-Natore highway.

The deceased are Nasim,45, son of Abdur Rauf of Sheikhparaunder Ishwardi upazila and Amit Kundu,40, son of Surat Kumar a residence of Radhanagar area in the Pabna town.

Ashish Kumar Sanal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pakshi Highway Police Station, said that a passenger microbus on the way from Pabna to Kushtia collided head-on with a passenger bus named SN coming from Kushtia, leaving at least 10 people were injured.

All the injured were rescued and admitted to Pabna General Hospital where the doctors declared two dead. Three of the injured are in critical condition.

The driver and his helper of the bus are absconding.The damaged buses and microbuses have been recovered and kept in police custody.Legal action in this regard is under process, OC said.
