The 1st death anniversary of former Jubo League leader Shaheed Khairul Alam Jame was celebrated in Chapainawabganj. On Sunday (27th Ramadan) afternoon, a discussion meeting, prayers and iftar mahfil were organized in Kalyanpur field on this occasion. Member of Parliament of Chapainawabganj-3 (Sadar) Seat Abdul Wadud was present as the chief guest of the program.
Chapainawabganj Municipality Councilor No. 1 Ward Iftikar Ahmed Ranju was in overall supervision of the event.
Present on the occasion were Imam Alhaj Zainal Abedin Jehadi, Head of Water Development Board Mosque, Hafez Moyez Uddin, Head Imam of Kalyanpur Jame Masjid, Monirul Islam, Deputy Secretary of District Awami League, Abdul Hakim, former member of Zilla Parishad, Mojibur Rahman, former president of Merchants Association, former secretary of Ward No. 1. Bachchu and others.
At the end of the discussion meeting, dignitaries including leaders from different parts of the area participated in the prayer meeting and prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased. Khairul Alam Jem (50) is the former councilor of Ward No. 9 of Shibganj Municipality and son of Mainul Ahsan Edu Master of Mardana area of that area. This former member of District Jubo League was living in Chapainawabganj city for a long time.
It is to be noted that on this day last year, some miscreants surrounded him and beat him up on his way back home after buying Iftar at Udayan Mor in the district city. Meanwhile, they injured him with a knife and beat him with a rod and ran away. In the evening Jem was brought to the hospital with serious injuries. He later died at around 8 pm during the first aid.
