16 days long book fair starting in Pabna

Amar Ekushey Book Fair, a festival of life, is being celebrated in Pabna this year as like every year with the theme “Smell of books, Subodh Jaguk Prane”. The Ekushey Book Fair Celebration Parishad will hold a week-and-a-half-long book fair at Swadhinata Chattar from Monday (March 1) to March 16.

The book fair will be inaugurated by two eminent Ekushey Award winning journalist columnist Ronesh Maitra and advocate Golam Hasnain. Former state minister for Home Affairs advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku MP will be present as the chief guest on the occasion.

Besides, president of Gananagarik Mancha Idris Ali, Pabna municipal mayor Sharif Uddin Pradhan, Superintendent of Police Md. Mahibul Islam Khan PPM will be present at the inaugural function, said Ekushey Book Fair Celebration Parishad president Zakir Hossain.

On the occasion, Ekushey Book Fair celebration parishad president Zakir Hossain and general secretary Habibur Rahman Swapan greeted people from all walks of life in Pabna and invited them to visit.

Meanwhile, the book fair was celebrated in Pabna every February, but it has been postponed due to this year’s Covid-19. On the occasion of the book fair, pandals and book’s stalls are being prepared with bamboo, wood and silk cloth at Swadhinata Chattar.
