At least 150 thousand of adolescence girls of 12 upazilas of Bogura district have been vaccinated soon under the month-long “Human Papilloma Virus Vaccination Campaign’2024” in Bogura from Oct 24, 2024.
The month-long campaign will be inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Learned District Magistrate of Bogura Hosna Afroza at Bogura Govt. Girls’ School in Bogura town at 9 AM on October 24 instant.
In this regard, an instant press conference was arranged by District Administration and Civil Surgeon office at DC office’s conference hall at in Bogura on Tuesday afternoon and DC of Bogura Hosna Afroza presided over the conference.
She mentioned that at least 1,63, 445 adolescence girls of aged 10 to 14 years of 12 upazilas of Bogura will be provided HPV vaccines and 61, 080 female students of class five to nine of Bogura will be given HPV vaccine free of coast from Oct 24 to Nov 07 this year.
Other 7,265 adolescence girls who are out of educational institutions of Bogura district will also be provided the HPV vaccine free of cost and no one should pay any single penny for the vaccine, she added in the conference.
Civil Surgeon (CS) of Bogura Dr. Shafiul Azam said that the HPV prevented the cancer of uterus and one HPV vaccine is enough to prevent such life killing cancer which is studied, safe and effective and the cost of one vaccine is at Tk. 5 thousand.
But Belgium-made vaccines have been given free of cost with the aid of United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the online registration is must to get the vaccine and till Tuesday, around 18,600 registrations have already done so far, added the CS.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Meshbaul Karim, Member-Secretary of Bogura Press Club Ad-hoc committee Shabur Shah Lotus, President of Journalist Union of Bogura Gonesh Das, and General Secretary SM Abu Said and other Journos of Print and Electronics Media of Bogura were also present simultaneously in the conference.
